The foolish man claims to know everything, while the wise man knows only that he knows nothing. In my years as a scientist, I’ve come to know quite a bit, which I assume puts me somewhere in between. I say this with the hope that you will not judge me too harshly for the contents of this scrapbook, as the road to discovery often makes for a bumpy ride.
These early concept sketches of the Nerd Buddy provide a glimpse into how we finally arrived at the swiveling, back-to-back design.
In order to achieve great success we must first endure great failure. As you’ll see, our Nerd Buddy field tests were abundant with failures of epic proportion. Therefore, I knew we had to be close!
I was on the verge of losing all hope for the Nerd Buddy when it hit me. Instead of trying to physically connect tech support experts to people, we could use broadband internet to connect people to tech support experts remotely! Thus, DellConnect was born, and I’m proud to announce that it has now served over one million Dell computer users from all over the world! Eureka, indeed.

The launch of DellConnect was greeted with favorable reviews and articles in the press, and every word sounded to me like it was being sung by a choir of angels, or in this case, a choir of journalists
With the NerdBuddy concept came a variety of ideas for custom Nerd Buddy features and accessories. We thought if Dell computers could be custom built to suit specific consumers, then the same should be true when selecting their Nerd Buddies. With the arrival of DellConnect, Nerd Buddy, of course, became obsolete, so production of this interactive showroom ceased.
